By accessing, signing up for, or using StoryHoot ("we," "our," or "us"), you agree to be legally bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to all of these terms, please do not use our website or applications.
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or use StoryHoot. You confirm that you are the parent or legal guardian, or have explicit permission from the parent or legal guardian, of any child whose details, name, nickname, photo, or voice you enter into the application. By submitting child profile data or reference photos, you warrant that you hold all requisite legal authority and consent to provide such information.
StoryHoot provides an AI-powered platform for families to create personalized bedtime stories for children. Features include customized story narratives, age-tailored reading levels, unique illustrations, synthesized narration audio, and printable coloring activities. We offer both free access tiers and premium subscription plans with advanced features.
StoryHoot may offer personalized voice synthesis ("Family Voices") allowing a parent or family member's voice to narrate bedtime stories. When using this feature:

Stories submitted to the Public Community library are subject to automated and human review. We reserve the right to review, unpublish, or delete any community submissions and suspend accounts that violate these acceptable use guidelines.
Stories, images, and audio narration are generated through artificial intelligence (Google Gemini). While we apply robust safety filters and prompts specifically crafted for child-friendly bedtime reading, AI models may occasionally generate unexpected or inaccurate content.
Parents and guardians are responsible for reviewing stories and illustrations before sharing them with their children. StoryHoot disclaims liability for any unsuitability or distress resulting from unexpected AI generations.
You retain ownership of the original story prompts, ideas, and profile data you provide. By generating stories on StoryHoot, you receive a perpetual, non-exclusive, worldwide license to use the generated stories, illustrations, and audio for personal, non-commercial family use.
If you choose to publish a story to the StoryHoot Community library, you grant StoryHoot a royalty-free license to host, display, and share that story with other users on the platform.
Premium features require an active paid subscription. Subscriptions are billed in advance on a recurring monthly or annual basis via Stripe. You can cancel your subscription at any time through your account Settings or via the Stripe customer portal. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing cycle. Refunds are evaluated on a case-by-case basis; please contact support if you encounter billing issues.
You may initiate account deletion at any time within your account Settings. To prevent accidental data loss, your account enters a 30-day grace period during which your data is preserved and you can reactivate your account simply by signing back in. After 30 days without cancellation, your account, child profiles, generated stories, artwork, and audio files will be permanently and irreversibly purged from our servers.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, StoryHoot and its operators, affiliates, and licensors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, punitive, or consequential damages arising out of or related to your use of or inability to use the service.
We may modify these Terms of Service periodically. We will provide notice of material updates by updating the effective date above and, where appropriate, notifying you within the app. Your continued use of StoryHoot following any revisions constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.
