Sam and the Hopping Library
Sam was exploring the sun-drenched bushland when he met a very special friend. Kira the Kangaroo was sitting by a wattle tree, looking quite lonely. Sam noticed that Kira had a very large pouch, but it was completely empty. 'I want to share wonderful stories with everyone,' Kira sighed, 'but I have no way to carry them!' Sam, being a very helpful friend, had a marvelous idea to help Kira reach her goal.

Sam and Kira decided to turn her pouch into a mobile library for all the animals. Sam ran home and gathered his favorite colorful picture books about stars, oceans, and brave knights. Kira carefully tucked the books into her soft pouch until it was full of bright covers and exciting adventures. They were both so excited to start their journey through the forest to find their friends.

Every time Kira took a giant leap, more books flew out of her pouch like birds. They needed a clever way to keep the library safe while Kira hopped over logs and rocks.

Sam found a bundle of stretchy elastic bands and some long, silky ribbons in his backpack. He carefully tied the ribbons across the opening of Kira's pouch to create a soft safety net. Now, the books were snuggled tightly inside and would stay put no matter how high Kira jumped. Sam gave Kira a big high-five, and they were ready to deliver their stories to the waiting animals.

The mobile library was a huge success! Pip the Possum was the first to borrow a book about the moon, holding it with his tiny paws. Soon, all the bushland friends gathered around Kira to pick out a story to read under the shade of the trees. Sam felt very proud of his friend Kira, who was now the most popular librarian in the whole bushland.
