Oliver and the Platypus Hat Shop
One sunny morning, Oliver walked into the forest to help his friend Percy open a very special store. Percy was a very polite platypus who loved fashion and sparkly feathers. Together, they spent all morning dusting the wooden shelves and hanging up colorful ribbons. Oliver was so excited because Percy's shop was filled with wonderful, custom-made hats for all the animals. "It is going to be a grand day!" Percy said with a happy wiggle of his dark bill.
Professor Hoot Says:
"Hats can protect your head from the sun and keep your ears warm in the winter."
Scene: Oliver (a cheerful kid with pale skin and blonde hair) and Percy (a small, furry brown platypus with a large teal bowtie and a soft, dark bill) stand in a cozy shop with wooden shelves and colorful ribbons. Oliver holds a wooden sign while Percy smiles warmly at the shop entrance.
Just as the bell chimed, a squirrel named Samantha scurried through the door. She looked quite sad because none of the hats in the forest ever fit her properly. Samantha had extremely long, tufted ears that stood tall on top of her head and often got squashed. Oliver noticed her frown and walked over to greet her with a friendly wave. "Do not worry, Samantha," Oliver said kindly, "Percy is the best hatter in the whole woodland and we will help you!"

Scene: Samantha (a jittery red squirrel with a very long, bushy tail and tall, tufted ears) walks into the shop and points to her head. Percy (a small, furry brown platypus with a large teal bowtie and a soft, dark bill) and Oliver (a cheerful kid with pale skin and blonde hair) listen to Samantha with friendly expressions.
Percy and Oliver got straight to work to solve the mystery of the missing hat size. Oliver held a long, yellow measuring tape while Percy carefully checked the height of Samantha's fuzzy ears. They realized that a normal, stiff hat would never work for her tall tufts. Percy tapped his bill thoughtfully while Oliver searched the shop for something extra special. They needed a material that could stretch and grow just like Samantha’s bouncy, jittery ears.

Oliver found some magical stretchy vines that grew near the river and brought them to the workbench. Percy carefully wove the blue vines into a soft base of green forest moss to make it flexible. It was a difficult job because the moss was very slippery and the vines were quite wiggly. Oliver helped by holding the pieces in place so Percy could sew them together with a tiny silver needle. Slowly but surely, a beautiful, stretchy green hat began to take shape right before their eyes.
Professor Hoot Says:

Scene: Oliver (a cheerful kid with pale skin and blonde hair) hands a bundle of stretchy blue vines to Percy (a small, furry brown platypus with a large teal bowtie and a soft, dark bill) while Percy sews a green mossy hat at a wooden workbench.
When the hat was finally finished, Samantha placed it on her head and let out a joyful squeak. The stretchy vines expanded perfectly around her tall ears, and the soft moss felt like a warm hug. Oliver and Percy cheered as Samantha twirled around the shop, showing off her stylish new look to the neighbors. The shop was finally a success, and Oliver knew that with a bit of kindness and teamwork, they could help every animal find their perfect fit.
