Lily and the Willow Weaver

Lily loved to wander through the Whispering Woods where the trees always seemed to have secrets. Today, she noticed that the great willow trees by the river looked very messy and tangled. Their long, leafy branches were twisted together like a big green knot. Usually, these trees had beautiful, straight hair that danced in the breeze. Lily wondered why the forest looked so grumpy and uncombed this morning.

Lily and Barnaby searched all over the mossy ground for the missing tool. They looked under mushrooms and behind big rocks, but the silver comb was nowhere to be found. Then, Lily looked way up high into the branches of a sparkly oak tree. The silver comb was caught on a tiny twig, shining brightly in the sun. It was much too high for Lily to reach, and Barnaby’s fingers were too thick to grab it without breaking the branch.

With the comb back in his hand, Barnaby began to work his magic on the willows. He carefully combed through the leaves while Lily helped him tie the ends with colorful ribbons she found in her pocket. Soon, the willow trees were covered in elegant, neat braids that shimmered in the sunlight. The trees looked happy again, and Barnaby gave Lily a tiny carved whistle to thank her for being such a helpful friend.
