Barnaby’s Big Nap
A brave boy was very excited because today was the day they would finish the new neighborhood playground. He hopped onto his best friend, Barnaby the Bulldozer, who was ready to rumble. The sun was shining brightly as they arrived at the construction site. A brave boy wore his yellow safety vest, and Barnaby’s orange paint sparkled in the light. They had a big job to do before the other children arrived to play.

For hours, Barnaby pushed heavy piles of soft, golden sand into the giant sandbox. A brave boy cheered as the bulldozer’s silver blade moved mounds of woodchips under the tall, red slides. They worked so hard that Barnaby’s engine began to make a low, rumbling hum. The playground was starting to look wonderful, with shiny swings and a wiggly bridge. Barnaby was a very busy bulldozer, but his movements were getting a little bit slower.

Suddenly, Barnaby let out a giant HONK that sounded exactly like a sleepy yawn. His big headlight eyes were droopy, and his silver blade rested heavily on the ground. A brave boy realized that his mechanical friend was exhausted from all the heavy lifting. 'You’ve done a magnificent job, Barnaby,' A brave boy said softly. The bulldozer’s tracks barely moved as he tried to push one last small rock. It was definitely time for a break before the grand opening.

A brave boy looked around the park to find the perfect spot for a bulldozer to dream. He didn't want Barnaby to be in the way of the new swing set or the sparkly fountain. Finally, he spotted a giant, ancient oak tree with thick green leaves that provided a cool, quiet shadow. A brave boy gently guided Barnaby toward the shade, away from the noisy street. The grass was soft and felt like a velvet carpet under Barnaby’s heavy black tracks.

A brave boy found a large, blue tarp and carefully draped it over Barnaby like a cozy blanket. Barnaby’s engine gave one last quiet purr before turning off for a well-deserved nap. The playground was finally finished and ready for all the kids to enjoy tomorrow. A brave boy sat down against the bulldozer's big tire and read a book quietly. Together, the tired worker and his brave friend enjoyed the peaceful afternoon in the park they built.
