A Cheerful Boy and the Secret Nut Stash
One crisp autumn morning, a cheerful boy stepped out into the golden woods with a skip in his step. He soon met a very flustered friend named Sammy the Squirrel, who was pacing back and forth under a tall oak tree. Sammy had a very big problem because he had forgotten exactly where he hid his favorite winter nuts! A cheerful boy patted his pockets and promised to help his fuzzy friend solve the mystery. They decided to start their quest at the edge of the sparkling blue creek.

They are standing in a bright autumn forest with orange leaves and a sparkling creek. Watercolor style.
Sammy scratched his fuzzy head and tried to remember a clue about the hiding spot. He told a cheerful boy that the treasure was buried right next to something 'yellow and very bright.' They rushed to a giant pile of crunchy maple leaves, but there were simply too many yellow leaves to choose from! A cheerful boy suggested they use a long stick to poke gently through the piles. Even though they found a shiny pebble and an old bottle cap, the delicious nuts were nowhere to be seen.

Next, the duo traveled to a patch of sunny dandelions near the old stone wall. A cheerful boy pulled out a magnifying glass to look for any disturbed dirt or tiny squirrel footprints. Instead of nuts, they discovered a tiny family of ladybugs having a meeting on a flat leaf! A cheerful boy smiled at the bugs, but Sammy let out a tiny sigh of disappointment. They needed to think harder about what else in the forest was yellow and bright besides just the leaves and flowers.

Sammy the Squirrel, a fuzzy red squirrel with a very bushy tail and a small green bowtie, peers through the glass too. Tiny red ladybugs are visible on the green leaves. Watercolor style.
The sun was starting to get lower in the sky, and Sammy was feeling very worried about his snacks. A cheerful boy had a wonderful idea and suggested they do a 'Memory Dance' to help Sammy's brain wake up. A cheerful boy wiggled his arms and spun in circles, while Sammy hopped on his hind legs and twirled his bushy tail. Suddenly, Sammy stopped mid-spin and pointed toward the tall sunflowers growing by the gardener's shed. He remembered that the sunflowers were the brightest yellow things in the whole forest!

They raced to the sunflowers and looked inside a nearby hollow log that was painted with golden sunlight. There they were—a huge pile of perfect, crunchy acorns and walnuts! Sammy was so happy that he gave a cheerful boy a big high-five with his tiny paw. To celebrate their successful hunt, they sat together in the warm grass and watched the sunset. A cheerful boy felt very proud because he knew that being a good friend was the best way to spend a day.
